When I was little I was not a fan of pink. I think it was just too “girly” for me. It did not go in line with the bag I got from my aunt when I started kindergarten that said “Anything boys can do girls can do better.” Growing up I had strong lady role models. That focused me away from stereotypes like the color pink.
But when I got older something happened. I love the color pink. I did not convert to the point that it looks like my wardrobe was sprayed by a peto bottle, but I gained a strong appreciation for the color. The appreciation was also extended to an understanding that part of the strength of being a woman is loving your gender, stereotypes and all.
