Excitement all around

Something on the water had a shimmer.  Terry sat on the bench studying the film she saw over the water.  It had a quality of both eery and beauty which fascinated her and drew her more deeply into looking.  The distraction was enough for her to miss everything that was going on behind her, around her.

When she got home that night, Terry turned on the television to watch the nightly news.  She saw chaos, carnage, combined with comedy.  In the midst of everything that was going on, she saw a woman sitting on the bench staring at the water.  Terry wondered how someone could be so focused on something that they missed the circus of sound and excitement around her.
